CBD is marketed as a cure for what ails you but actual medical marijuana patients say it's THC that relieves pain.
For the first time in Canada, clinical trials will be conducted to test the use and efficacy of cannabidiol (CBD) on animals.
The results indicate that chemo extracts high un CBD and low in THC could potentially block that "gateway" for COVID-19 to enter cells.
Researchers chose a nematode worm species, Caenorhabditis elegans, for their test subjects. This species of worm was selected for the study because it has 60-80% of the same genes that humans have, and it only lives between two and three weeks.
Ultimate Fighting Championship athletes will serve as test subjects to find out if the cannabis compound CBD can treat the aches and pains that come hand in hand with their violent sport.
While not a substitute for vaccines, "CBD has the potential to prevent infections, such as breakthrough infections," the study's lead author said.
